General guideline on nutrition schedules

ACTIVITY Application
PLANTING Ground application: Mix 10kg Humiphos granules with 50kg appropriate Planting fertilizer. Ratio is 1:5. Apply mixture with normal rates per hole. For mechanised farms pour mixture in the fertilizer hopper, calibrate and apply.
5 LEAF STAGE Foliar application: Mix and apply Citishooter (2ml\lt),30ml\15lt or 200ml\100lt with Humiphos (5ml\lt),75ml\15lt or 500ml\100lt also add Citiactivator (1 Tab\15lt) or Citiactivator SC (15ml\15lt).

Two applications may be necessary
BEFORE TOP DRESSING Foliar application: Mix and apply CitiZinc SC (3ml\lt),45ml\15lt or 300ml\100lt with Citiactivator (1Tab\15lt) or Citiactivator SC(15ml\15lt)
KNEE HIGH STAGE TOP DRESSING Ground application: Mix 10kg Citishooter granules with 50kg appropriate Top-dressing fertilizer.Apply with normal rates per plant. For mechanised farms pour mixture in the fertilizer hopper and apply.
VEGETATIVE GROWTH STAGE Foliar application: Mix and apply Citishooter(2ml\lt),30ml\15lt or 200ml\100lt with Mastergro (2ml\lt),30ml\15lt or 200ml\100lt, also add Citiactivator (1 Tab\15lt) or Citiactivator SC (15ml\15lt).
SECOND TOP DRESSING BEFORE TASSELLING Ground application: Mix 10kg Citishooter granules with 50kg appropriate Top-dressing fertilizer. Apply with normal rates per plant. For mechanised farms pour mixture in the fertilizer hopper and apply.

Maize needs adequate moisture during its growth. There are three periods when moisture is absolutely essential and drought would be the most devastating, germination, flowering and pollination and grain filling stage. With climate change and unpredictable weather, it is impossible to guarantee adequate rain during the growing cycle especially the distribution of rain during these critical stages. More often we find rains are adequate only the first two months of the season, however most high yielding varieties mature in 5-6 months. This means more than half of the growing period 2-3 months are dry, hence poor soil moisture levels leading to depressed growth hence productivity. Therefore, the question is how do we conserve soil moisture already existing during the first 2 months of the season. Many interventions can be done including adding organic matter or manure, cover crops, mulching etc. Through research and experience we advocate for accelerated growth after germination all the way past knee-high stage to ensure the Maize crop makes its own natural mulch from its foliage canopy and covers the soil more than 90%. This creates a favorable micro climate below the canopy and more importantly significantly improve soil water retention. Our aggressive nutritional program from early growth to knee high stage is critical to achieve this.

Crop stress significantly contributes to poor establishment. Our product Citishooter an organic hormone addresses this and ensures the crop has good stress tolerance and vitality. Crops under stress close their stomata to conserve moisture reducing photosynthesis resulting in poor establishment.

Plant efficiency means crops maximize utilization of fertilizer and water enabling good establishment. The cells are turgid, have cool leaves and transportation of dissolved minerals around the plant is at its best. Citishooter stimulates high plant efficiency ensuring that all growth processes metabolic and physiological growth processes occur at the right time and at a very high efficiency. Planting and Top-dressing fertilizers are not sufficient, we must ensure the crop has High stress tolerance and High plant efficiency by applying Citishooter and deliberately follow a nutrition program.

Also carry out good agricultural practices, Weed, Pest and Disease management to compliment this nutritional program to ensure high productivity of your crop.
